One-Day Bus Trip! On Saturday, August 9th head to Washington DC and decide between the Zoo or Smithsonian (National Mall area) for an adventure on your own. The bus pickup will be at 8:15am from the Chambersburg, PA Weis Market (1056 Wayne Avenue, off exit 14) in the parking lot behind Applebee's. You will return to that location at 8:00pm.
What to expect --
Arrive in DC at approximately 10:30am, with the first stop at the Zoo for those who choose that option, the second stop is near the National Mall or more specifically the Smithsonian -- you'll be on your own time schedule to explore as you wish at either spot. The bus will return for pickups -- leaving the Smithsonian/National Mall area at 5:30pm and the Zoo at 6:00pm to head home. Lunch and dinner are not provided.
The zoo houses 2100 individual animals and 400 different species -- including the newest guest, the Giant Pandas Bar Li & Qing Boo. The zoo is 163 acres and has a variety of dining and shopping throughout the park. You are able to bring food and snack into the zoo.
The Smithsonian museums and National Mall area offer a wealth of popular attractions. Ticketing and admission into some museums may be required at an additional cost, so consider getting tickets ahead of time.
